Quadball is…

A delightfully chaotic sport featuring three distinct positions, four balls on the field at once, and endless fun.

But how do you play?

  • Chasers

Chasers are the base of quadball. To win a game, you need to score points. Chasers and keepers score by putting the quadball through the opposing team’s hoops. They do this by running, passing, and shooting.

  • Beaters

Beaters add the chaos. They use the dodgeballs to protect their own hoops or attack their opponents. Anyone can be hit by a dodgeball at any time to be temporarily taken out of the game.

  • Seekers

Seekers add the element of the unknown. Twenty minutes into every game each team sends a seeker out to catch the flag runner. A successful catch adds 30 points to that team’s score and, if that team has the most points after catching, ends the game.

Isn’t it hard to play with that stick between your legs?

Honestly no. Just like basketball players must dribble and soccer players can’t use their hands, quadball players must remain on their stick to be in play. It’s really fun! Come give it a try.

Mixed Gender Sport

Quadball values inclusivity, and the chaotic nature of the sport allows players of many different skill sets to thrive on the field together. The presence of the sticks and the dodgeballs prevents any one body type from dominating in the sport.

Quadball for All uses the International Quadball Association’s rulebook, which states that “The gender that a player identifies as is considered to be that player’s gender.” Every quadball team “may not have more than three players who identify as the same gender in play at the same time,” so every team and every league is a mixed gender. These rules make space for trans and gender diverse identities in the sport.

Wait… isn’t this just quidditch?

Quadball was originally based off quidditch, the magical sport from the Harry Potter novels. However, the sport has evolved a lot from those early fan days. Many of the rules are different to make the real sport functional and fun for all, and the sport has become its own distinct community from the original fan community..

Quadball has distanced itself from JK Rowling in light of her active transphobia. She receives no monetary gains from the sport. Quadball for All condemns Rowling’s hate speech and transphobic statements. Our mission is to bring inclusive sport to all, and this includes trans and gender diverse folks.
